Our Music Together® Classes

MIXED-AGE CLASSES

This is the essential music class, one that a family can attend three semesters per year for three years, without repeating a curriculum or song collection.  The music is fresh and new as the family moves together through a total of 9 song collections!  This is the ultimate family activity as it allows for parents to bring different aged siblings to the same class together.  This class follows the recommendations of leading child development researchers -- grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning.  Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and parents are happy because children in the family can all go to class together.

We're taking registrations for upcoming classes now! Each regular semester includes 10 weekly, 45-minute classes which include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability.

Tuition includes:

  • 2 CDs of the music collection for your semester (one for home and one for the car)
  • A beautifully illustrated songbook
  • A Parent Guide DVD
  • One Parent Night Event
  • Ongoing consultation with a trained Music Together Teacher

Our mixed-age classes are engaging for all children (birth to kindergarten or so) and the adults who love them (moms, dads, grandparents, babysitters, aunts, uncles, etc....).

A variety of class times/days are offered to accommodate different family schedules.

  • Morning Classes are perfect for home-school families or stay-at-home parents with infants and/or preschoolers.
  • Lunch time classes are perfect for families with morning preschool or kindergarten children who want to bring all young children in the family to an afternoon class after preschool or Mother's Morning Out programs.  It's also a good option for working parents who want to enjoy one lunchtime per week doing something fun and educational with their child.
  • After-school Classes are wonderful for families with kindergarten children or afternoon preschool children.
  • Pajama classes are great for working families who enjoy creating valuable memory-making traditions by participating in Music Together as a family after dinner and right before bedtime.  The class time lullaby ritual creates a wonderful bonding moment and gets children in the mood for bedtime
  • Saturday Classes offer a fun family weekend option for families who find it difficult to work in a music class or family activity during the work week.  These classes sometimes make it easier for both parents to attend with their child(ren).

Please take time to consider which class time will work best for your family!  (And, we're always open to suggestions for class days/times).  Remember, grandparents, aunts/uncles, daycare  providers, and other grownups are welcome to attend the classes with the child.  Come experience The Joy of Family Music®!

Mixed Ages

Our classes offer a mixed-age environment which is known to support developmental milestones and growth.  The Music Together philosophy has been researched and proven to support developmental learning and family bonding by allowing children of various ages to participate together in a family-friendly setting.

Parents are naturally the best teachers for their children and who every child looks to for information, security, and confidence as they try new things.  Adult participation is an integral part of our non-performance based program.  Parents and caregivers who participate in our classes become models for all children in the class, regardless of their own musical background or training.  The older children are also offered opportunities to take on leadership roles during classes and the younger children learn from their example.  Together, families participate in musical activities that promote meaningful interaction and bonding.  The classes are experiential in nature and allow for creative expression and memory making.  Families are given music and tools to use at home to continue the fun during the week and between classes.

Mixed Age Pajama Class

Evening classes are offered with the option of children coming to class in their pajamas.  Children may even choose to bring a favorite stuffed animal or blanket to class.  This can create a fun and enjoyable pre-bedtime activity for families. Consider this option for your family in the upcoming semester.

Mixed Ages Demo Class

Demo classes are now being scheduled to allow you the opportunity to "try-out" Music Together before registering for a full semester.  These classes are for mixed ages and are developmentally appropriate for birth - Kindergarten.  In some cases, slightly older children or siblings will be appropriate, based on developmental readiness.  Children with developmental delays or disabilities are always welcome to try our classes.  It is our hope that Music Together will create opportunities of learning for ALL children.
